Archive for March, 2013

The Lower Providence Community Center on Hillside Avenue, our current polling place, is building a new facility at the Township complex, next to the Sewer Authority. They are awaiting final approval from the Board of Supervisors and they can then begin construction. They expect the project to be complete and to be relocated within the next year, possibly as early as August 2013, according to their chairman at a 2012 meeting.

As this location is even further out of our voting district than the current spot, I am again resurrecting my efforts to find another, suitable location within the boundaries of 2-3. You may recall I worked on this effort 3 years ago due to safety concerns at the current location, but for political reasons, it went nowhere.

I have reached out to the chairman of the Lower Providence Republican Party, Jim Van Horn, and my co-commiteewoman, Kathie Eskie, asking to meet with them, provide the legwork I did 3 years ago with one facility in mind (again) and get their thoughts on a new place for us to vote.  I will keep you updated as soon as I know more, but since the process of relocating a polling place and communicating that takes time, I wanted to get started now.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions! We will remain at the current location for the May 21 primary.
